A ceramics exhibition at the Museum of Fine Arts of Ho Chi Minh City

We are honored to look back on the recent presentation of our ceramic series at the Museum of Fine Arts in Ho Chi Minh City. This significant opportunity allowed us to present a work that explores the profound connection between earth, organic architecture, and the transformative power of fire.
The architecture of the Earth: Material and texture
This series is distinguished by its exploration of organic structuralism, inspired by nature's most resilient forms, such as subterranean root systems and deep-sea coral formations.
The works employ an earthy color palette and emphasize above all the raw materiality of the clay. The dominant tones of blackened reddish-browns and subtle mineral greens are achieved through a deliberate, often unpredictable, traditional firing process. This method ensures that each piece possesses a unique surface texture—a testament to the intense interaction between material, heat, and atmosphere. The resulting surface appearance conveys a structured rawness and underscores both the fragility and the inherent resilience of the ceramic medium.
Composition and Dialogue
The exhibition concept played a central role in the presentation of the works. The pieces were presented on clear, geometric pedestals in contrasting white and vibrant emerald green.
This arrangement created a visual dialogue:
-
The geometric bases offered a modern, architectural counterpoint to the organic, weathered surfaces of the ceramics.
-
The green connected the art to its natural, living source of inspiration (roots, foliage), while the white pedestals served to highlight the delicate details of the carving and glazing.
Regarding the symbolism and the guardian figures
A central conceptual element of the series is the inclusion of several stylized animal figures (similar to cats or mythical guardians). These elements introduce personal and cultural symbolism. They embody quiet vigilance and the enduring spirit found even in the smallest beings.
Placed near the larger, structured blocks, these figures serve as meditative focal points, connecting the overarching themes of organic architecture with the intimacy of presence and mindfulness. They represent the quiet tension between the raw power of nature and the gentle presence of life.
Summary
Our exhibition at the Museum of Fine Arts in Ho Chi Minh City was a profoundly enriching experience that reaffirmed our commitment to pushing the boundaries of contemporary ceramic sculpture. We extend our sincere thanks to the museum and its supporters for presenting this intersection of structure, material, and emotion.
We look forward to continuing this dialogue in future works and invite you to explore the full depth of this series through our online portfolio.
